A UPS employee is recovering after two suspects, including a 16-year-old, attacked her with a crowbar and took her car, police said.

Two men approached the woman in a UPS parking lot near the facility on Cottonwood Street Wednesday when they hit her with the crowbar and stole her purse and car, according to a news release from the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.

An officer later saw the stolen vehicle near The Plaza and attempted to pull it over, but the driver refused to stop.

The driver, Deonte Grier, jumped from the vehicle and tried to run but was eventually arrested.

UPS confirmed that one of "our employees was involved in an incident last night. She was treated at a local hospital and released. The safety of our employees is of the utmost importance to UPS. We are cooperating with authorities throughout their investigation."

The police investigation is ongoing.
