A man who brandished a machete while trying to attack security agents at a New Orleans airport has died.
Richard White, 63, was pronounced dead Saturday afternoon at a local hospital, according to officials.
White, who had a bag filled with six Molotov cocktails and material from smoke bombs, was shot after trying to attack TSA officers with a machete Friday night. White walked down a TSA Pre-Check security line into Concourse B at about 7:30 p.m. and was stopped by an officer who asked for his boarding pass.
White sprayed an officer with wasp spray, then ran past two others and pulled out a machete. He cut a female agent in her upper bicep. Another was struck in the arm by a bullet while running from White.
A deputy with the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office fired her weapon three times at White as he chased a TSA agent while swinging the machete, according to investigators.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
