A mother and daughter will face charges for refusing to stop when officers tried to pull them over Wednesday afternoon, authorities said.

Police told WPXI that the initial traffic stop attempt was because the car had a broken tail light. When police tried to pull over the car, it would not stop.

Authorities said the subsequent chase was never a high-speed engagement.

According to a criminal complaint, the driver crossed into oncoming traffic twice. She eventually pulled into her driveway, where she got out of the car and police confronted her.

The mother then came out of the house screaming, “Shoot me, not my daughter,” the complaint said.

According to police, the driver had three other people in the car, in addition to drug paraphernalia in heroin stamp bags.

Gail Miller, a resident in the area, was shocked when she heard the commotion.

“The lights were flashing, the sirens were going but the car just kept speeding down the hill,” Miller said.

Authorities later identified the mother as Donna Groomes and her daughter as Autumn Groomes.

Donna Groomes was charged with obstruction of justice, while Autumn Groomes was charged with fleeing and eluding police.
