A suspect has been taken into custody after taking several guns and extra ammunition into Bellevue Baptist Church on Easter Sunday, according to the Memphis Police Department.
Officers were told that security saw a man in the sanctuary armed with several guns around the time of the 11 a.m. service.
The man was detained and taken into custody without incident.
"We are thankful for the diligence of (our) security and the Memphis Police Department," said Jim Barnwell, a church spokesman.
Barnwell says an estimated 4,500 people were at the church at the time.
