An Indiana teen is dead after police said his grandmother shot him, then killed herself in an apparent murder-suicide.

According to WISH-TV, Wanda Huber, 68, of Seymour, shot Simon Huber, 15, in her backyard, then called 911, police said.

"There's been an accident," she told the dispatcher, WISH reported. "Oh, actually, not an accident. There's been a murder, so I need you to come immediately."

Wanda Huber was still on the phone when she shot and killed herself, authorities said.

Seymour police arrived to find Wanda Huber dead with a gunshot wound to the head, WISH reported. Simon Huber, who also had been shot in the head, was taken to an area hospital and died Tuesday morning, police told the Seymour Tribune.

Neighbors and friends, who described Wanda Huber as loving, were shocked by the news.

"Wanda was very smart and willing to help others when she could but didn't like charity herself," Cora Dowhower told the Tribune. "She will be missed dearly."

"She absolutely adored her grandson," neighbor Gene Hildreth told WISH.

Authorities said the shooting may have been sparked by "medical issues," according to the Tribune.
