A driver of a semitrailer who pulled over to help a woman change a flat tire is in critical condition after he was struck by a vehicle, authorities said.
According to San Antonio police, at 12:30 a.m. Saturday the truck driver noticed a woman pulled over on an interstate ramp, trying to change a tire after a blowout, KSAT reported.
As the driver was changing the tire, a car traveling southbound on the interstate hit the truck driver and the woman, KENS-TV reported.
The driver fled the scene, according to the television station.
The truck driver was taken to an area hospital in critical condition, KSAT reported. The woman was taken to a different hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police told the television station.
