Herald Sun says a Syrian opposition activist released the emotional footage.

“This video was shot in Zamalka, a suburb of Damascus which activists allege was one of the three suburbs struck in the poison gas attack last week.”

The BBC says the crowd was shouting "Thank God!" and "God is great!" as the two reunited.

“Both the Syrian government and the opposition have accused each other of the attack. It comes as pressure mounts from the west for external intervention.”

The video quickly went viral after being posted in a Washington Post article Tuesday.

And as of Wednesday afternoon, it had more than 1.6 million views on YouTube. (Via YouTube / hadi hdhod)

Reddit user who shared the video wrote, "I don't understand most of it, but you don't need to know any language to see the power in this video."

CNN reports some 7,000 children have lost their lives in Syria's war.
