Mother, son, two others arrested in connection with Sunday dollar store robberies

Police believe two families were involved in the Macon armed robberies, sheriff’s office officials say

Authorities have apprehended two adults and two teenagers they believe robbed two Georgia dollar stores at gunpoint within moments of each other Sunday morning.

The armed robberies took place between 10:45 a.m. and 11:08 a.m. Sunday, according to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office. The suspects held up the Dollar General in the 4900 block of Bloomfield Road and the Family Dollar in the 3500 block of Houston Avenue in Macon.

“It was reported that two males entered the store brandishing firearms,” according to a Bibb County Sheriff’s Office news release. “They demanded money from the clerk.”

Upon searching Napier Avenue and two addresses on Sylvian Drive for the suspects, sheriff’s deputies arrested

Quantisha Trinita Sanders, 37, and her 16-year-old son, according to WMAZ-TV. Deputies also arrested Onkendiah Rodney Hightower, 27, and his 16-year-old brother. Sanders and Hightower remain at the Bibb County County Jail, according to jail records. Sanders is charged with willful obstruction of a law enforcement officer,  while Hightower faces two counts of armed robbery and willful obstruction of law enforcement officers.

The two teens are being held on two counts of armed robbery at the Macon Regional Youth Detention Center and are charged with two counts of armed robbery.

During the searches, authorities found a "large amount" of money and clothes the suspects wore during the robberies were found, according to a sheriff’s office release.
