More than 200,000 Georgians have settled on their choice for president – and made it official.

As of late Tuesday, 205,437 ballots had been cast for Tuesday’s presidential preference primary — 187,512 by in-person early votes and 17,525 by mail-in absentee.

A majority of the votes were cast for Republicans —- 125,572 or 61 percent.

Five large metro counties have reported the largest votes: Fulton: 19,569; DeKalb: 14,422; Cobb: 12,772; Gwinnett: 10,932; and Forsyth: 7,274

Early in-person voting for Tuesday’s election began Feb. 8 and ends Friday. Considered the top contenders are Donald Trump, Marco Rubio, Ted Cruz, John Kasich and Ben Carson on the Republican ballot and Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders on the Democratic side.
