Monday will provide another opportunity to spend some time outdoors.

The sunshine and dry conditions will continue across North Georgia after beautiful weather all weekend, according to Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Brian Monahan said. Temperatures topped out in the 60s on Sunday, but they are headed for 70 degrees Monday, he said.

“No rain jacket, no umbrella needed today,” Monahan said. “We’re going to stay dry through your Monday. There will be some wet weather a little later this week, but for today, nice and dry with a partly cloudy sky in your forecast.”

There is a 20% chance of rain in the forecast for Tuesday, but Monahan said there is no need to alter outdoor plans.

“That is not going to be widespread rain, really just isolated sprinkles around on Tuesday,” he said. “Wednesday is more of an inside day.”

Showers are 40% likely both Wednesday and Thursday, with Thursday’s rain coming late in the evening, according to Channel 2. Friday will likely be wet with an 80% chance of storms in the forecast.

All that rain should keep pollen levels at bay. After hitting its first four-digit pollen count last week, Atlanta’s count on Sunday was just 59 particles per cubic meter of air, which is considered in the medium range.

Trees like juniper, oak, pine, cottonwood and maple are the top contributors, according to Atlanta Allergy and Asthma, the organization that tracks the daily pollen count.

With dry pavement, there are no major delays to slow the start of the Monday morning rush, according to the WSB 24-hour Traffic Center. Only one wreck on I-75 North was causing commuters trouble in Cobb County.

The single-car crash at I-575 was blocking two left lanes at 6 a.m., the Traffic Center reported. Until authorities clear the scene, drivers can take U.S. 41 as an alternate.
