Clayton County police Monday released the name of a man killed Saturday night at an apartment complex near Forest Park.
Officers responding to the 400 block of Sylvia Drive at about 9:15 p.m. Saturday found 33-year-old Florencia Gomez Mendez face down in the parking lot of an apartment, according to Clayton County police spokeswoman JaQuitta Williams.
Williams said Mendez had been shot in the chest during an armed robbery.
She said Mendez was walking with a friend back to their apartment when the friend was struck in the back of the head and left unconscious.
Mendez was shot and was able to walk away, but soon collapsed and died in the parking lot.
