The 24-year-old man who died following a wreck in Cobb County was a college student, managed a martial arts school and was known for encouraging others, according to his family and friends.
Joshua Hunter Kroswek, of Atlanta, died Wednesday from injuries he sustained in a two-vehicle wreck Tuesday night.
Around 9 p.m. Tuesday, Kroswek’s blue 2007 Honda Civic hit the back of a white 2002 International 9200 tractor pulling a flatbed trailer on East Piedmont Road, according to Cobb police. Sgt. Dana Pierce said the tractor-trailer was going north on East Piedmont Road and was attempting to make a U-turn at Plymouth Lane when Kroswek’s northbound Civic hit it. After striking the trailer, the Civic careened off into a residential property.
Kroswek was temporarily trapped in the wreckage and had to be extricated, according to police. He was taken by ambulance to WellStar Kennestone Hospital, where he later died. The driver of the tractor-trailer was not injured in the crash, which remains under investigation.
A 2008 graduate of Sprayberry High School, Kroswek was attending Kennesaw State University and pursuing a degree in integrated studies, according to his online obituary. He also was working at a martial arts school while pursuing his black belt, and he was working for Papa John's, the obituary states.
An online fundraising page was created to assist Kroswek's family.
“Josh bravely opened his heart to others, and truly wanted happiness and success for those he loved,” a tribute to Kroswek on the GoFundMe site states. “His sincerity touched the lives of both friends and strangers alike and his uplifting spirit proved as a source of encouragement for all. He made you believe in yourself as much as he believed in you.”
Kroswek’s funeral was held Saturday at Fellowship Bible Church in Roswell.
