The first of three men accused of killing a Milton man for his gold neck chain was convicted of murder Friday.

Richard Bernard Davidson, 22, is scheduled to be sentenced next week for killing 19-year-old Christopher Walker on March 23, 2013. Walker was shot in the driveway of his family’s home after returning from Taco Bell, according to investigators.

Davidson, of Roswell, Matthew Goins, of Alpharetta, and Michael Grant, of Roswell, were all arrested and charged in connection with Walker’s death. Police previously said the trio followed Walker to Silhouette Court after spotting his necklace. Walker was shot once in the head.

The victim's mother, Mary Jo Walker, was on the phone when her son was gunned down outside. From her front stoop, she could see his body on the ground, she previously told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

“His eyes were open, but I could see that he was dying,” she said.

Trials are pending against Grant, 24, and Goins, 21, the Fulton DA’s Office said.
