DeKalb County sheriff’s deputies late Monday night arrested a man wanted in connection with the Christmas Eve shooting death of his ex-wife.

DeKalb police had issued a warrant charging Jake Jackson Jr. with murder in the death of Tiffanie Phillips, who was killed Wednesday afternoon at her home on Terrace Trail near Decatur.

Sheriff’s spokeswoman Cynthia Williams said Jackson was arrested without incident just before 11 p.m. Monday outside a Walmart on Memorial Drive at Columbia Drive.

Tiffanie Phillips’ father told Channel 2 Action News that he was uneasy while Jackson was on the run.

“I’m glad he’s off the streets,” Harvey Phillips said.

The family said Tiffanie Phillips’ three children haven’t been able to sleep at night after two of them saw Jackson shoot their mother in front of their home.

“The kids can rest now because they were thinking he may come back,” her mother, Valerie Phillips, told Channel 2.

Jackson, 32, is being held in the DeKalb County Jail.
