A murder that reportedly happened early Monday in Macon is already its 28th of the year, after the middle Georgia city saw only 26 in 2019.

Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones said he got a call about a murder around 5 a.m., according to WMAZ.

A man was found shot in the face in the Fort Hill neighborhood in east Macon, at Hawkinsville and Eastview avenues.

The victim has been identified as Domimic Phillips, 29.

"We should be marching to protest these homicides in our city, as we are on the verge of breaking another record. And it's a record I don't want to see broken," Jones said, as reported by WGXA.
