Mableton woman killed in Austell wreck
A Mableton woman died Monday when the car she was driving slammed into the back of a tractor-trailer in Austell.
Cobb County police spokesman Mike Bowman said a 2004 Cadillac SRX was traveling southeast on C.H. James Parkway just before 4:30 p.m. when the driver failed to maintain her lane, striking the rear of an intermodal container that was being hauled by a 2003 International truck tractor and was stopped in the left turn lane waiting to turn onto Garrett Road.
The Cadillac driver, 47-year-old Shan M. Ray, died at the scene.
The truck driver was not injured, and is not expected to face charges, according to Bowman.
