Zoning modifications approved by Henry County commissioners

The Henry County Board of Commissioners voted at its May 21 regular meeting to modify zoning conditions for a 4.3-acre tract at 1666 Hwy. 81 East, just west of Old Jackson Road. This eliminated four conditions from the original rezoning approval.
The vote was unanimous.
According to county staff documents, the applicant stated in a letter that he intends to sell the property and the buyer plans to build a 7,000-square-foot gym along with six other 1,000-square-foot retail spaces. Also approved was a rezoning from RA (Residential-Agricultural) to RS (Residential Suburban) for approximately 23 acres on Willow Lane in McDonough. The site is north of Hopewell Place, and the applicant has proposed 56 townhome lots on the west side of Willow Lane and 44 single-family homes on the east side of Willow Lane, with those homes being considered an expansion of the Mathis Place at Pembrooke subdivision.
