YWCA's Salute to Women of Achievement
The YWCA of Greater Atlanta will holds its 28th annual "Salute to Women of Achievement" luncheon at noon Wednesday at the Atlanta Marriott Marquis hotel downtown.
The event honors women who have made strides in their careers and in philanthropy.
Kathy Betty, owner of the Atlanta Dream, will be named the 2011 Woman of Achievement, the day's top honor. Betty bought the women's professional basketball team in 2009. She has more than two decades of experience in business management and consulting.
For the first time, a man will be honored. Tad Hutcheson, vice president of marketing and sales for AirTran Airways, will be honored at the 2011 Y's Man.
The theme of the event is “Life is But A Dream” and will feature a performance by Jennifer Holliday, Grammy Award -winning singer and Tony Award-winning actress. Holliday is best known for her role of Effie in the original Broadway production of "Dreamgirls."
Other being honored include Rabbi Analia Bortz, Congregation Or Hadash; Rosalind Brewer, executive vice president and president of Walmart East,
Walmart U.S.; Molly Burke, general counsel, GE Energy Services; Emily Ellison, co-founder, Atlanta Girls’ School; and Dr. Elizabeth Kiss, president, Agnes Scott College.
The 2011 College Woman of Achievement and recipient of the Carol Dunlap Reiser Scholarship is Kayla Hogan, a senior at McNair High School, and a participant in the YWCA’s Teen Girls in Technology (TGI Tech) program.
