An 80-year-old Acworth woman was found safe Sunday afternoon, more than three hours away from home.
Mary Yates was last seen by her daughter leaving their home on Brookstone Walk around 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Cobb County police said. Yates was headed to church in her white Toyota Corolla.
Around 12:45 p.m. Sunday, Yates was spotted in the parking lot of a church in Americus, about 180 miles from Acworth, Sgt. Dana Pierce told the AJC. The preacher's wife at the Sumter County church asked Yates if she needed help, and Yates said she needed to get home to Acworth, Pierce said.
Yates was taken to the Sumter County Sheriff's Office to wait for family members to arrive to take her home, Pierce said.
