Dense fog that reduced visibility to a quarter-mile in some areas before daybreak today is expected to lift by late morning, forecsters said. After a slight chance of rain on Tuesday, the rest of the week should be dry and much warmer.
Dense fog advisory: The National Weather Service posted a dense fog advisory for areas of the state north of a Columbus to Forsyth to Washington line. All of metro Atlanta is included in the advisory, which expires at 10 a.m.
Forecast for the rest of the work week: Channel 2 meteorologist Karen Minton said highs will be in the mid-70s, climbing into the 80s the rest of the week. Minton is predicting highs of 82 Tuesday, 86 Wednesday, 88 Thursday and 87 Friday, with lows in the upper 50s early Tuesday and in the mid-60s the rest of the week.
Minton said there’s 10 percent chance of rain Tuesday, followed by sunny skies Wednesday through Friday.
Holiday weekend outlook: Early indications are that the sunny conditions will linger through at least Sunday.
