Woodstock tweaks I-575 exit at Ridgewalk

Woodstock has broken ground on a road project that’s promised to improve conditions for motorists exiting I-575 eastbound onto Ridgewalk Parkway, the exit for the Outlet Shoppes shopping center.
The project will widen the right turn lane at the top of the exit ramp from northbound I-575, officials said, reducing congestion and wait times. Also, by improving eastbound traffic flow, drivers turning left or westbound should be able to reach the signal faster at the top of the ramp.
The Georgia Department of Transportation granted Woodstock a special encroachment permit to proceed with the project, officials said. Tucker Grading and Hauling of Canton is the contractor. The work is to occur during non-peak travel hours and is expected to take about 45 days to complete.
Woodstock is working with Cherokee County on some additional modifications to the interchange, City Manager Jeffrey Moon said.
