Having met or exceeded 177 standards, conducted a series of self-evaluations and hosted a visit by independent assessors earlier this year, the Woodstock Police Department has received accreditation from the nationwide Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, city officials announced.
Woodstock Police Chief Calvin W. Moss and Assistant Chief Kevin Culpepper received the department’s accreditation Nov. 18 at the CALEA Conference in Jacksonville, Fla. The organization previously accredited the department from 2001 to 2004.
Only 20 percent of law enforcement agencies in the U.S. have CALEA accreditation, and only 5 percent in Georgia have both state certification and national accreditation, officials said. “This honor represents the best in class service our team strives to provide to Woodstock, its citizens, business owners and guests,” Moss said.
