The Woodstock City Council has approved a developer’s revised plan for a senior citizens project to allow 29 additional units, mainly for an expansion of memory care and assisted living residences.
The change was requested by Solomon Development Services LLC for a 20.4-acre project on the south side of Ga. 92 east of Mountain Brook Parkway. Identified in architect’s drawings as The Holbrook of Woodstock, the development was approved in 2015 with a total of 270 units – 175 independent living, 25 memory care and 25 assisted living units in a five-story building, and 45 duplex cottages.
The plan has since been revised because of what the developer described as increased consumer demand for memory care and assisted living services. It now calls for a total of 299 units – 175 for independent living, 74 for assisted living, 25 for memory care and 25 cottages. The memory care/assisted living residences and the independent living units would be in two separate buildings.
The revised plan also allows for dumpsters to be screened with the building façade or walls, fencing and landscaping; and to allow an alternate fencing from that called for in this particular zoning district. The Woodstock Planning Commission had recommended approval of the changes, with certain conditions.
