The Woodstock City Council has awarded a $151,145 contract for an extension of Rubes Creek Trail from a connection with the existing trail near the Rubes Creek Water Reclamation Facility north to the trailhead near Fire Station 14 on Arnold Mill Road.

Astra Construction Services LLC of Woodstock will be responsible for laying 1,078 feet of new concrete trail 8 inches thick and 10 feet wide.

Other duties assigned to the contractor include surveying and clearing the trail area, installing warning surfaces and removable bollards at crossing areas, providing materials and labor for 50 linear feet of wood retaining wall, and seeding about four feet on each side of the concrete trail.

Work is to begin within 10 days after the notice to proceed and be completed within 60 days. Rubes Creek Trail eventually is to become part of the Downtown Loop, according to Woodstock's Greenprints Trail System plan. Information: bit.ly/2gQ2zBn
