Authorities are seeking the public’s help finding two metro Atlanta women who allegedly fraudulently cashed about $170,000 in state and federal tax refund checks in Acworth.
Wanted for arrest on charges of theft by taking and forgery are April Nicole Brown, 27, of Atlanta, and Michelle Brooks-Powell, 39, of Acworth, according to a news release from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
Brown also has an address in Columbus, and Brooks-Powell in Canton.
The GBI, Georgia Department and Investigation and U.S. Secret Service are looking for the women, who cashed the checks at a check-cashing business on the Bartow County side of Acworth. Details of how they allegedly ran the scheme were not released.
