A 42-year-old Cherokee County woman was struck and killed while trying to cross I-575 Wednesday night, according to police.
Jamie Lynn Sanborn, of Ball Ground, ran into the left, southbound lane of I-575 in Woodstock and was struck by a vehicle, the Georgia State Patrol said Thursday.
Sanborn was hit near the Ridgewalk Parkway exit by a Nissan Altima shortly after 10 p.m., according to the GSP. No charges are expected against the driver of the Altima, identified as Kyla Nicole Reinagel, 22, of Acworth.
Southbound lanes of I-575 were temporarily closed during the investigation, according to Brittany Duncan, spokeswoman for Woodstock police. All lanes were re-opened shortly before 1 a.m. Thursday, she said.
It was not known what prompted Sanborn to run onto the interstate. A blood test will be performed on Sanborn to determine if alcohol was a factor, the GSP said.
