Woman seriously injured in hit-and-run pedestrian accident in Marietta

Marietta police are looking for a hit-and-run driver after a pedestrian was struck by two vehicles before daybreak Tuesday.

A woman was walking in the center turn lane of South Marietta Parkway near Lake Drive when she was “clipped” by a dark-colored passenger car and spun into hte opposite lane of travel, Marietta police spokesman David Baldwin said.

“The pedestrian attempted to get out of the travel lanes but was struck by a van before she could clear the lane,” Baldwin said.

He said the car that initially struck the woman left the scene and continued eastbound on South Marietta Parkway.

“The van remained on scene and the driver spoke to emergency responders,” Baldwin said. “No charges are pending at this time against the van driver.”

He said the pedestrian, whose name has not been released, was taken to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital with serious injuries.
