The SUV driver who ran over and killed a 7-year-old DeKalb County boy in a crosswalk outside an elementary school last year will spend a year in jail.

A DeKalb State Court jury found Shirley Ogilvie, 41, guilty Wednesday of vehicular homicide in the second degree, a spokesman for acting county Solicitor Nicole Marchand said.

Ogilvie hit second-grader Kameron Dunmore on Feb. 2, 2009, as he crossed South DeShon Road on his way to Princeton Elementary School.

The boy was crossing in presence of a crossing guard with a stop sign.

Ogilvie also was found guilty of failure to yield to a pedestrian, said the solicitor's spokesman, Erik Burton. Both counts were misdemeanors.

Burton said Ogilvie was sentenced to a year in jail.
