An Atlanta woman was sentenced on Monday to life in prison plus 35 years for arranging a 2008 murder to steal drug money, court officials said.
A Fulton County jury convicted Anastacia Jackson,25, for planning the October 2008 armed robbery that resulted in the death of 32-year-old Alton Sewell of Atlanta.
According to court officials, Jackson admitted to setting up a $32,000 cocaine buy with Sewell at a BP gas station on Metropolitan Parkway.
Just as the money exchange was about to happen in Sewell's truck, two masked men pulled up and ordered him to "give it up."
One gunman fired, shooting Sewell in the chest, while a second gunman robbed another man who was with Jackson. Jackson fled the scene and later confessed to her part in the incident, court officials said.
Jackson was convicted of felony murder, two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, criminal attempt to commit armed robbery, conspiracy to commit armed robbery and possession of a firearm during a felony.
Superior Court Judge John Goger presided over the case.
