Woman faces 128 counts of forgery in alleged embezzlement

An Emerson woman is accused of embezzling more than $44,000 from her employer in Atlanta, according to Cartersville police.

Nicole Abernathy, 35, allegedly stole the money from her employer,  Law Premises LLC,  in the 4200 block of Northside Parkway in Atlanta. Abernathy allegedly deposited the funds into her personal account at a local bank in Cartersville, according to police.

The incidents began in February 2010 and continued through November  2011, police said. Details on the case were not immediately available.

Abernathy was arrested on Monday and charged her with 128 counts of forgery. She was in Bartow County Jail awaiting a bond hearing Thursday.
