The man found shot to death in his Forsyth County home apparently was killed by one of his wife's relatives, police said Friday afternoon.

Larry Martin, 77, was arrested and charged with one count of murder in the death of 41-year-old Ronald E. Priester, Karleen Chalker, Forsyth County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman, said Friday.

Priester's wife found him shot to death inside the couple's Aldridge Court home in the Lake Astoria subdivision, north of Cumming, late Thursday when she returned home from an out-of-town business trip, police said.

Martin, believed to be either an uncle or stepfather of Priester's wife, lived in the basement of the Priester's home, Chalker told the AJC. Martin was in the home when Priester was found and when deputies were called to the home, around 8 p.m. Thursday, police said.

“We have recovered what appears to be the weapon used to kill Mr. Priester,” Forsyth County Sheriff Ted Paxton said in an emailed statement.

Investigators have not yet determined a motive in the shooting death, Chalker said.
