Brookhaven's Parks & Recreation Department is hosting its first 5K, dubbed It Starts in the Parks, which will go around Blackburn Park, beginning at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 18, located at 3493 Ashford Dunwoody Road. The department is seeking volunteers to help out between the hours of 6:15 to 9:30 a.m. All ages are welcome, and duties include: checking in pre-registered participants; taking registration/money for people signing up on-site; manning the corner of a small side street intersection while racers pass by; manning a water table during the race; helping pass out shirts and giving out awards post-race.
