Visit Roswell, the convention and visitors bureau for the North Fulton city, has named an experienced destination marketing official to be its new executive director, effective Jan. 1.

Andy Williams currently is director of sales for Destination South Meetings+Events, a DMC Network Company based in Atlanta, according to a Visit Roswell announcement.

Williams previously served as project coordinator with the Madison-Morgan County Convention & Visitors Bureau in Madison starting in 2007, and as sales manager for the Dunwoody Convention & Visitors Bureau starting in 2011; he later became director of sales for the Dunwoody group.

He has a bachelor’s degree in tourism and commercial recreation from Georgia Southern University. He succeeds Dotty Etris, Visit Roswell’s first and only executive director, who has led the organization since 1992 and announced her retirement earlier this year.

Williams, his wife Ryan and their two children live in Cumming and plan to move to the Roswell area next year.

“Andy has the technical skillset, creativity and energy to move us forward in our effort to bring more visitors to Roswell,” said Ken Davis, chairman of the Visit Roswell search committee and president of the North Georgia region of Renasant Bank.
