VIDEO: Car stolen from Gwinnett QT, set on fire

Gwinnett County Fire Investigators are looking for two men suspected of stealing a Jeep and setting it on fire.

A man left his car running at a Norcross Quik Trip early on the morning of April 6 as he ran into the store to purchase something. Minutes later, it was gone.

By 8:43 a.m. that day, Gwinnett County police officers found the car in flames at the intersection of Walnut Grove Way and Taylor Road. Two “suspicious” men wearing hoodies had been seen sticking a rag into the car’s gas tank by a witness who had called police.

Gwinnett County fire investigators and Norcross police detectives are looking for the men they believe stole the car and set it ablaze.

“The pair will likely face felony auto theft and second-degree arson charges,” said Capt. Tommy Rutledge of Gwinnett County Fire and Emergency Services.

Anyone who may know the identity of either suspect or any information about the incident should contact the Norcross Police Department at 770-448-2111 or the Gwinnett Fire Investigations Section at 678-518-4890. Georgia Arson Control is offering up to $10,000 in reward money to anyone who provides information leading to an arrest in this case. You can contact the Georgia Arson Control Hotline at 1-800-282-5804.
