Verizon Wireless announced the Georgia launch of  "Know It Forward,"  a social-media campaign aimed at raising the awareness of sexual assault.

The campaign specifically targets college students and young adults. April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month and colleges and student groups across the country, including Georgia, are educating students about the prevalence of sexual assaults on campuses. A website, www.KnowItForward.com, helps people find out how to reduce the risk and share information through Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and other social media outlets.

The project was launched in Alabama last year.

One in four college women will be sexually assaulted over the course of her college years, according to the U.S. Department of Justice.
