Union City recycling program no longer accepts glass

The city of Union City no longer accepts glass in the recycling program. Waste Industries is the company contracted to deliver recyclables to several third party processing facilities in the area. It has reported that a recent downturn in the value of materials, combined with complications in processing, have made it necessary for those processing facilities to demand the removal of all glass from teh recycling stream.

The city asks residents to be supportive as it strives to maintain the recyling program.

Acceptable materials for recycling: plastic containers, metal containers, plastic and paper bags, cardbord boxes as well as books, paper and mail.
