Reappointments are among the agenda items for the Union City council on Tuesday, Jan. 17. Both the work session and regular meeting will be held on the same day.
Several department directors will be considered for reappointment:
- city attorney - McNally, Fox, Grant & Davenport
- city engineer: Moreland Altobelli Associates, Inc.
- police chief: Chief Cassandra Jones
- fire chief: Chief Joe Maddox
- medical director: Dr. Kenneth E. Jones
- public services director: Lonnie Ferguson
The council will also consider approval to submit an application for a federal grant called “Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response,” also known as SAFER.
According to FEMA’s website, the SAFER grant provides direct funding to fire departments and volunteer firefighter organizations to help increase or maintain the number of trained, firefighters on the front lines in their communities.
Another agenda item is the consideration of a request to enter into an agreement with Romtec, a company that designs, supplies, and installs public restrooms, to install a restroom facility at the Ronald Bridges Park, Highway 29 ballfield location.
