A pair of men were recently indicted in a Cobb County apartment shooting that killed one man and injured another in October.

Carl Maurice McCline and Charon Brazzel were indicted Dec. 15 on charges of murder, aggravated battery, aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during a felony, according to court records.

Witnesses saw McCline loitering outside the Belmont Place Apartments unit where Esmond Ford lived before he was killed in the shooting, according to a police warrant.

Information in the warrant claims Brazzel pulled the trigger.

Ian Washington was hit in the shooting, “rendering useless” his right eye, the warrant said.

Surveillance video shows McCline and Brazzel running away from the apartment.

McCline was arrested the day after the shooting and Brazzel a couple of days after that.

Brazzel was also indicted on charges of burglary and murder stemming from an alleged 2015 shooting.

In that incident, Brazzel and Stephon Ledford allegedly broke into an apartment off Tibarron Parkway in Smyrna, a warrant said.

Brazzel was standing beside Ledford when he kicked in the door of the Ashbrook Crossing apartment. Once inside, the resident shot and killed Ledford.

Cobb County police filed the warrant in the alleged 2015 crime a week after he was arrested for the more recent shooting. Police declined to comment on how and why it filed those 2015 charges.
