Two people were hurt Wednesday morning when a pickup truck jumped a curb along Hollywood Road and crashed into a northwest Atlanta MARTA bus stop, police said.

Atlanta police spokeswoman Kim Jones said two patients were transported to the hospital after the crash, which happened about 8 a.m. on Hollywood Road near Brooks Avenue.

Jones did not know the extent of the injuries, but the driver of the pickup told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution the victims didn’t seem to be seriously injured.

Red Strickland said his right front wheel came off, causing him to lose control of the 2000 Ford Ranger pickup he was driving.

“I felt a big jolt, so I hit my brakes, and [the truck] just kept going,” Strickland said. “I hit my brakes and I didn’t have any.”

The man and woman in the truck’s path were bloodied, but didn’t seem seriously injured, Strickland said.

“I was never so glad in my life to see somebody stand up and be able to walk around,” he said.

“I was just glad to see that they’re going to be alright,” Strickland said. “Praise the Lord. I couldn’t hardly live with hurting somebody.”
