The Cumming City Council will see some significant changes in 2016.

Longtime Post 4 council member Ralph Perry and Post 5’s John Pugh announced at Tuesday night’s meeting that they will not seek re-election in November, and will drop off the governing body when their terms expire at the end of the year.

Booth members said health issues played into their decision to retire. Perry was first elected to the council in 1979 and Pugh took office in 1993. Post 3 council member Lewis Ledbetter said he will run for another term in the position that he’s held since 1971.

Qualifying for the election is set for Aug. 31 and Sept. 1 and 2.
