Two Cobb County areas have been named “Opportunity Zones” by the Georgia Department of Community Affairs, making small businesses there eligible for special job tax credits.

Businesses in the Atlanta Road area near Dobbins Air Reserve Base and the Discovery Boulevard area near Mableton Parkway and Veterans Memorial Highway that create a minimum of two jobs can earn a $3,500 tax credit for each position.

The assistance is designed to support local businesses, boost redevelopment and create jobs, according to the county. For more information call the Office of Economic Development at 770-528-2607.
