The accident area has been cleared in downtown Norcross after a train struck and killed a pedestrian Wednesday morning, police said in a Twitter post.

The incident occurred about 8:47 a.m., police spokeswoman Lt. Randa Hafez said. A southbound Norfolk Southern train hit the person, who was standing on tracks near South Peachtree Street and Stevens Road.

All downtown crossings were affected, Hafez said.
