One person has died in a wreck involving a tractor trailer on I-85 Northbound in Coweta County Monday, according to Georgia State Patrol Lt. Paul Cosper.
Initial investigations indicate that the driver lost control of the car near exit 41 when its tires veered slightly off the road, Cosper said. The Pontiac crossed the median into the path of a Northbound tractor trailer and the driver died from the impact.
The victim's name has not been released. The driver of the tractor trailer was not injured in the wreck, Cosper said.
Following the fatal accident, a second wreck occurred when a tractor trailer rear-ended another tractor trailer, sending one driver to the hospital, according to WSB-TV.
The wreck occurred near exit 41 and caused traffic jams for more than an hour mid-day Monday; all roads are now clear, according to the Georgia Department of Transportation.
