The cows went home, or at least got wherever they were headed Tuesday night when a tractor-trailer they were traveling in flipped on its side on Fulton Industrial Boulevard.

The accident happened in the southbound lanes under the I-20 overpass around 9:30 p.m., Fulton police spokeswoman Cpl. Kay Lester said. The truck was carrying about 50 cows, she said.

The truck’s driver, whose name was not released, was not injured. The cows were rounded up and loaded on a second trailer called to the scene, police said.

None of the cows were seriously injured, Channel 2 Action News reported.

The Department of Transportation will investigate the cause of the cow crash, Lester said.

Two lanes of the ramp to I-20 were temporarily blocked, but reopened early Wednesday.
