An 18-month-old girl was in stable condition at an area hospital after falling from a window onto a concrete driveway Wednesday afternoon in Cobb County, authorities said.
The toddler, whose name was not released, fell about 10 to 12 feet from a first-floor window of a home on Independence Way near Roswell Road, Lt. Dan Dupree with the Cobb County Fire Department said. The child landed on the driveway of a garage beneath the home.
A helicopter landed on nearby Providence Way to transport the child, Dupree said.
Investigators believe the fall was accidental and happened after an older child in the home opened a window in the playroom, Officer Mike Bowman with Cobb County police told the AJC.
The toddler apparently pushed on the screen and fell through the window,Bowman said. But the screen never fell from the window, he said.
The girl was flown to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Scottish Rite, where she was in stable condition Wednesday night, Bowman said.
The incident, Bowman said, is a good lesson for anyone with small children. "Just make sure your windows are secure," he said.
