Out of a crowded primary field vying for the office of sheriff in Henry County, one Republican and two Democrats remain in the race.

Jack Redlinger emerged victorious in the Republican after winning a majority of the vote against two opponents. On the Democrat side, seven candidates were on the ballot with Reginald Scandrett and Tony Brown getting the most votes to qualify for a runoff.

The winner in November will succeed retiring three-term sheriff Keith McBrayer, who in a statement last month said he thought Redlinger and Scandrett were the most qualified in each race, although he did not endorse one over the other.
