Gwinnett commissioners on July 21 approved three communities for inclusion into the Street Lighting Program at their meeting.

Twenty out of 24, or 83 percent, of homeowners in the Graymont subdivision in Grayson voted in favor of joining the program. Georgia Power will install 13 streetlights for $39,498. The operating cost is $2,642.

Forty-one of 69 homeowners, or 59 percent, in the Cannonwolde subdivision in Snellville also voted to join the program. Twenty-nine streetlights will be installed by Walton EMC at a cost of $15,863, with estimated annual operating cost at $5,582.

The third community approved for the program is Coopers Pond, units 3-4, in Lawrenceville. Forty-three out of 72 homeowners, or 60 percent, voted for the program. $13,094 will cover the installation of 23 streetlights by Walton EMC. Operating costs is estimated to run $4,149 annually.

The installations are funded 100 percent by the 2009 SPLOST Program.
