Fans of the zombie-themed television show “The Walking Dead” soon will be able to participate in a real-world activity in Georgia that is based on the show, according to a report.

The chamber of commerce in Meriwether County will launch a geocache trail called The Real Woodbury Zombie GeoQuest, a spokeswoman told the Columbus Ledger-Enquirer. It will be a type of virtual scavenger hunt in which participants use GPS and other devices to find locations and items that have been placed in containers. Those taking part usually enter a physical or online logbook saying they have discovered the items.

The geocache activity is being done in conjunction with the start of the seventh season of “The Walking Dead.” The show features a fictitious town of Woodbury, and there is an actual town by that name in Meriwether County.
