Q: Who is funding all of the ads that the Citizens for Transportation Mobility are running about untying Atlanta's traffic? They sure are spending a truckload of money on ads.
—April Rayborn, Roswell
A: Citizens for Transportation Mobility (CTM) is being funded by contributions from companies, non-government organizations and individuals, spokesman Jeff Dickerson told Q&A on the News in an email. It has been formed to build support for a 10-county referendum for a 1-percent sales tax for transportation that will be voted on July 31. CTM believes the referendum "will untie our traffic knot, create thousands of new jobs and make our region competitive again," Dickerson said. There is no government or taxpayer support for CTM, he said.
Q: Why must the DeKalb County grand jury subpoena Channel 2 Action News for the entirety of Andrea Sneiderman's testimony given during the recent trial of her husband's killer? Isn't a full trial transcript of her testimony available?
—Michael N. Nafpliotis, Marietta
A: Court transcripts can take "an extended period of time" to compile, so having other "avenues or options can expedite the process," Erik Burton, a spokesman for the DeKalb County District Attorney's office, told Q&A on the News. "Having it recorded is another format that's available," he said. The grand jury has been convened to determine whether a criminal indictment is warranted against Sneiderman in the death of her husband, Rusty Sneiderman. Channel 2 has said it would comply with the subpoena, the AJC reported.
