Gwinnett County police don't yet know who killed Jahlah Branch at a crowded house party over the weekend.
But the athletic director at Branch's former high school knows what kind of kid he was.
"Jahlah was a good student and respected by his teammates," Carl Green, the AD at Hapeville Charter Career Academy in College Park, told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution on Monday. "He will be missed by all who knew him."
Branch, 17, had transferred to Salem High School in Conyers for his senior year, Green said. The teen was shot in the head early Saturday.
Around 12:30 a.m. Saturday, Gwinnett police responded to Aviator Circle near Snellville, where a party with 100 or so attendees was taking place. They believe multiple shots were fired during some sort of dispute.
"During the altercation," Cpl. Deon Washington said, "several people produced firearms and began shooting."
One of the bullets killed Branch.
The shooters fled and no arrests have been made. Washington said early Monday afternoon that there were no updates in the case.
Police are urging parents whose kids may have attended the party to come forward with information.
